Here are some odds and ends of people, places and things that have caught my eye. Abandoned buildings show up a lot for some reason.

Disconnected
East of Superior Wisconsin on the back roads south of Lake Superior, you might run across this old abandoned farm house
Loonsfoot Landing
Loonsfoot Landing is at the site of an old iron ore loading dock in Superior Wisconsin. I was returning home from an evening sail when I came across the scene of evening light reflecting on the old concrete structures

Rope

I spent a week sailing on Lake Superior with a good friend. We both believe in keeping things ship shape when docking at port.
Mask
One of my joys is scouring 2nd hand shops and antique stores. On one of these outings I came across a collection of items of South American art that included this unique mask.

A Bridge to Nowhere

“Always have your camera with you”. Or, the other way I’ve heard it said, “The best camera is the one you have with you”. I can’t remember what errands I was running this day, but as I drove under the Duluth High Bridge on this foggy early spring day, I knew errands would have to wait. I love the mystery of fog. Do we really ever know for sure what lies ahead?
Barns
“Well….I know I want to head south”…..When I have time, I like to point my car the general direction that I need to go and then just see what happens. This trip was taking me south to Rochester Minnesota to visit my daughter. The coulee country that borders the Mississippi River has many hidden treasures, including this tucked away farmstead.

Homebuilt

Taken from the back of my own home-built sailboat up on Spirit Lake on the St. Louis River, this beauty was trying to chase me down.

Grassy Point Bridge
My daughters were in town to visit and one of them joined me on this early morning hike out onto Duluth’s Bong Bridge. I wanted to see what we might find in the early morning winter light and was not disappointed.
